Imagine the excitement, magic and variety of THE BIG APPLE, plus the luxury of relaxing, when you wish, peacefully and affordably, in a spacious suite in a private home.
YOUR HOSTS, THE MONROES
Gail, with a degree in mechanical engineering, loves to build, repair, and improve anything -- from sports cars to sailboats to old houses. He took early retirement from his computer specialist's position with the Human Resources Administration of the City of New York.
Paula has been a teacher, graphics artist, computer systems supervisor, and caterer. Today, a French Culinary Institute trained professional chef, she operates The Strange Dog Inn, develops recipes, and writes and lectures about food.
Both active seniors, we enjoy life, particularly sailing, watching baseball, reading, the arts, travel, and all things Russian. Seasoned New Yorkers, we can help you navigate your way through our sometimes confusing -- but always interesting -- city.
Also in residence: A new Strange Dog named "Hope" ("Nadja") who is a Kosovo refugee sent by son David, plus two somewhat shy housecats: "Moo2" and "Puff."
Our son, David, is a Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel and a State Department Special Agent. His wife, Scarlet, is a retired Marine Corps Major. When not on assignments, they live on Emerald Isle, North Carolina.
